It was well done for the overall atmosphere.
Asheville pinball museum reviews movie#
The decor is all 80s pop culture - movie posters, still photos of actors, TVs playing adds or shows from then, etc. They also have a bar that appeared to serve at least beer and wine (it may be a full bar?). In addition to the pinball machines, which is definitely the focus, they do also have some video games (a good assortment) in the rooms at the rear. I am more of a video game guy than a pinball guy, and I didn't think I'd have time to do $15 of play. Their policy is that it is free to enter and look around, but to play games you need to buy a $15 set of credits. There is street parking nearby and a public parking garage about a block away. It is convenient to downtown, across the street from the Groveland Arcade. I visited this place on a Friday afternoon. Kids can only go in and out of so many stores smelling candles and sampling fudge before they’re bored. And while there’s a comfort in the expected, I loved that we found somewhere cool and unique and something the kids found fun to do as well. When you go to a nice touristy town you can always expect to find places for local handmade goods, good food and somewhere to buy fudge. I put our name on the list and then we shopped and walked around downtown Asheville (lots of stores and shops to keep us busy) until they called. There was about a 1.5-2 hour wait but it wasn’t a big deal because I knew that would be the case since I read it on their website. The games at APM were so fun-there was such a variety and some that I recognized from the olden days of the 80s.

I was always horrible at video games but I loved pinball. For us, it wasn’t really about walking through and checking it out as if it were a museum, it was more about playing all the games. Two teenagers, two 9 year olds and four forty-somethings and we all had fun. And not to brag, but I’m pretty sure I won. She chose a couple restaurants and the idea of going to the pinball museum was my contribution. We spent a few days in Asheville for the Thanksgiving Holliday with my sister’s family.
